Gateway CSB

No Money? No Problem. We Will Never Turn You Away

Benefit for Families

Individuals whose adjusted income is at 100% or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG) for their family size are determined not to have an ability to pay for services and therefore are not required to pay a fee.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      A. You can walk-in to the Outpatient Center in Camden, Glynn, Liberty, Chatham, or Effingham counties during open access hours. Open Access hours vary by clinic. Please call (866) 557-9955 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday – Thursday for available hours for initial intake.

If you are already receiving Gateway's services and need to schedule an appointment, you can call (866) 557-9955.

      A. Bring your Social Security card, Driver's License, proof of address, proof of income, Insurance card, and verification of lawful presence in the U.S.

It may also be beneficial to bring any denials that you may have for SSI/SSDI.

      A. No. Gateway is a public agency created by state law to provide mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.

      A. Gateway Community Service Board’s sliding fee scale is set by DBHDD for use statewide, determining the percentage of the full charge for a service that an individual will be charged based on their adjusted income and family. If an individual has been determined not to have the ability to pay for service, their services are covered fully by DBHDD funds (see DBHDD Policy 01-107).

The poverty income level is determined using Health and Human Services Poverty Guidelines for the 48 Contiguous States and the District of Columbia for any individual whose adjusted monthly income is at or below 200 percent of the poverty level for their family size in accordance with Behavioral Health Sliding Fee Scale for Community Based Services. Individuals whose adjusted income is at 100% or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG) for their family size are determined not to have an ability to pay for services and therefore are not required to pay a fee. Individuals whose adjusted income is at 101% to 200% of the FPG will be assessed a reduced fee according to the schedule. However, the assessment of any fee is not intended to create a barrier to care.

      A. Payment is due at time of service.

      A. Under most circumstances, you are required to pay for services ordered by the court. If you have questions, please contact the court.

      A. 1. You may obtain your medications from any pharmacy.
      2. There is an on-site pharmacy at the Glynn County and Chatham County Outpatient Clinics.
      3. Our other Outpatient clinics have short-turnaround times on medication delivery.
      4. Gateway pharmacies file most insurances with required insurance copays. For those who are uninsured, copays are $8 per prescription.
      5. Gateway offers a patient assistance program for MH, SUD, and primary care medications. This means Gateway may cover your medications.

      A. If you feel that any of your rights have been violated or denied, please take the following steps:
Talk with the site's Client Rights Officer to discuss your concerns for a solution.

If you cannot solve with the Client Rights Officer or do not feel comfortable talking with him/her about your concerns, ask to speak to his/her supervisor or the program director.

If your concern/complaint has still not been resolved, then you may wish to file a formal complaint with the Corporate Compliance Representative through the Administrative Office at (912) 790-6238 or compliance@gatewaybhs.org.

      A. You can enter your suggestion, complaint, or compliment by contacting the Corporate Compliance Representative through the Administrative Office at (912) 790-6238 or compliance@gatewaybhs.org. Once submitted, the Quality Assurance Team will review your input.
